Giving to FBC

How to Give
In seeking to be faithful stewards of the resources God provides through our contributors, we offer the following methods of giving to First Baptist Church:
The Offering Plate

We continue to receive contributions through the offering plate each Sunday Morning, or through the US Postal service if you choose to mail your contribution. We would encourage you to use one of our giving envelopes if you desire a record of your contribution, however this is not necessary.

On-line Giving
We now offer on-line giving through Sharefaith Giving. Clicking this link will bring you to our Sharefaith on-line giving page where you can register and create your profile.  We are able to receive contributions by debit/credit cards or direct transfer of funds from your bank account (ACH). This method of giving allows you to conveniently establish a habit of giving by making a one-time contribution or by setting up a recurring contribution. It also allows you to contribute when you have to miss worship. A private record of your on-line contributions will be available in your giving profile after a contribution is made. We will also maintain a record of your contributions for end-of-year reporting.
Your Bank’s Online or Personal Bill Pay Programs

Your bank likely offers these options for paying your bills. You would set it up through your bank’s website or in-person at your local bank. You can set up a recurring gift weekly or monthly as you choose or initiate a new contribution each time you wish to give. First Baptist incurs no expense with this giving method.   We will maintain a record of your contributions if you use this method of giving.

Why Do We Give?

God’s Word is crystal clear in the expectation that God’s people will be givers – it’s in our D.N.A. as children of God. Remember John 3:16, “God loved the world so much that He gave…” This verse as, well as numerous others describe our generous Father who has graciously blessed us and ignited a generosity within us.

When we give, we demonstrate to God the priorities of our heart. Matthew 6:20-21 says, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…for where your treasure is, there you heart will be also.” Our spending habits reveal our priorities. You can tell what a person treasures by examining their checkbook (or Amazon account). The Church has been around for 2,000+ years and is the only organization on earth that will last throughout eternity. There is no better investment fund than the Body of Christ. It pays eternal dividends.

When we give, we demonstrate to God our obedience. Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce (NLT).” Verse 10 explains how God will respond to our obedience by filling our barns and vats with an over-abundance. God recognizes and rewards the faithful obedience of His children.

When we give, we testify to the world that God is worthy. While we are not to flaunt our giving, those around us cannot help but see the choices we make and the things that we do not allow to possess us. I Thessalonians 4:11-12 says, “Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live...”

Because of your faithful giving, First Baptist Church ministers in Sikeston and around the world. Thank you for being a part of what God is doing.
